Candleflame is a godly knife that entered Murder Mystery 2 through the Halloween Box 2021, the crate tied to the Halloween Event 2021, which ran from October 23 to November 25, 2021. Each pull from the box cost 600 Candies or a single Reaver Key, and Candleflame came out at a 0.2% chance, the same box dropped its chroma counterpart, Chroma Candleflame, at 0.004%.
Trading is now the only way to add Candleflame to an inventory, since Halloween Event 2021 ended years ago. It doesn't carry an official Set partner, so most players pick a gun to go with it based on looks instead.
Candleflame has a deep purple handle shaped like an antique candlestick, with a purple blade that flares upward like a candle flame catching fire. Below the blade, the handle carries a beam of glowing purple light running along its surface. Since Candleflame doesn't have an official Set partner, Wraiths Gun makes the strongest pairing. The gun came from the same Halloween Box 2021, and its solid black body scattered with purple ghost markings lines up closely with Candleflame's own black-and-purple color scheme.
Candleflame shares its name with two other items, so mixups happen during trades:
Chroma Candleflame is its own chroma counterpart, pulled from the same 2021 box and now valued at
40.
Separately, a rare gun also named Candleflame arrived three years later in Halloween Event 2024, earned by clearing tier 17 of that event's Battle Pass for 12,800 Candies total. It was likely modeled after this godly knife, but the two aren't otherwise connected.
Chroma Candleflame holds its own spot in the game's history too. It was the third holiday-event chroma released overall and the second tied specifically to Halloween, following Chroma Boneblade from Halloween Event 2018 and Chroma Gingerblade from Christmas Event 2018. No holiday chroma came out in between, which is why Halloween Event 2021 was remembered at the time as bringing the idea back after a three-year gap.
Candleflame was also swept up in The Candleflame Glitch, a duping incident during the 2021 event that let players multiply copies of Candleflame, Chroma Candleflame, and Harvester. Once the exploit surfaced, players caught holding ten or more of the item were banned, though that rule doesn't appear to be enforced today since players now hold that many without consequence. The knife was designed by IDontHaveAUse, the same designer behind most of that event's lineup.
