About Corrupt
Corrupt is a Unique knife handed out in 2014 as compensation to players hit by the Data Loss Glitch, which happened on December 29, 2014, and wiped users' inventories. With only a small handful of players ever receiving one, it was once one of the rarest knives in the game and can now only change hands through trading.
Appearance and Best Pairings
Corrupt has a plain golden blade, a silver guard, and a grayish-black handle. The design itself is identical to the game's Default Knife, just recolored, so its rarity comes from its history rather than an elaborate design. It's paired with the Godly gun Luger, together forming the Corrupt Set.
Corrupt Background
Corrupt was the very first unique weapon in MM2, back when that category was still called "Reward" before later being renamed "Unique." Supposedly, around 63 players ever received one, handed out directly by Nikilis to make up for inventories lost in the 2014 Data Loss Glitch. Supposedly, the users got their inventories wiped as they reset their game during the glitch. That tiny supply made it the second-rarest knife in the game behind Nik's Scythe for years. Its rarity took a hit during the Duping Glitch of 2017, one of the main incidents that targeted Corrupt specifically and flooded the market with duped copies, causing its value to drop sharply from where it once stood. Because of this, Nikilis added some safeguards when trading for a Corrupt. For example, players need to reset their character to actually see a newly received Corrupt land in their inventory, and holding more than 20 at once would get an account banned, however, this rule no longer applies.
Nikilis showed his love for Corrupt by making the main lobby's water fountain statue of himself holding the Corrupt. It's also the only tradable unique weapon in MM2, and the only item above Legendary rarity that still uses the plain Default Knife mesh.
Ownership comes with a couple of quirks. Before the 2017 glitch, only around 63 players were believed to own a Corrupt between 2015 and 2017; thousands of copies now exist as a result.
