Blox Fruits Fishing: Full Guide

Blox Fruits Fishing Full Guide

Fishing in Blox Fruits runs on its own level system, separate from combat, starting with a free rod from the Fisherman and building toward better rods, bait, and enchantments through the Angler. Every rod and bait in the normal progression, how trust and quests work with each NPC, and what rod mastery and enchantments actually do all factor into why fishing matters beyond just catching fish for cash.

Fishing in Blox Fruits runs on its own level system, separate from combat stats. It starts with a free rod from the Fisherman and builds into a full progression, better rods, bait, Angler trust, and rod enchantments. In this article, we'll explain why fishing is worth doing, every rod and bait in the normal progression, and how trust, mastery, and enchantments all work.

How Fishing Works

Tap the water once to cast. When a red exclamation mark appears, tap/click again to start the reeling minigame. Hold the screen or hold click to pull a bar toward the fish icon, release to let it drift back, and expect rarer fish to fight harder.

Each catch pays a fixed 25% of a level's XP, so four catches equal one level, and 2x EXP boosts don't apply here. Anyone nearby also holding a rod adds a stacking 2.5% luck bonus, capped at 15%. The inventory holds up to 301 fish.

Why Fishing Is Worth Doing

Fishing is a poor way to make money; rarity doesn't affect sale price, only weight does, and it's a poor way to level compared to grinding. Its real value sits elsewhere. Sunken Chests hand out Money, Fragments, and enchantment scrolls that don't drop anywhere else. Note in a Bottle permanently unlocks consumable recipes like the Fortune Elixir and Lava Potion.

Certain fish are required for specific events, including the RIP Event and the Red King Event. And a handful of Legendary and Mythical fish exist only as fishing catches; nowhere else in the game drops them.

Fishing Level and the Three Passives

Fishing launched in Update 27.0 with a level cap of 50, raised to 100 in Update 27.4. Underneath that level sit three trainable passives. Bait improves bait effectiveness and levels up from buying bait. Casting shortens the delay before a bite and levels up from casting the rod. Control widens the minigame bar and levels up from keeping the lure locked on the fish. Each takes 150 experience per level, separate from a rod's own mastery.

The Angler and Trust

Fishing level 20 unlocks the Angler, a separate NPC from the Fisherman. He's at the Skylands docks in the First Sea, the Green Zone dock in the Second Sea, and Hydra Island in the Third Sea. Every completed quest adds one point of trust, and trust doesn't carry between seas. Four quest types rotate at random: catch a specific fish rarity, catch any fish within 2 minutes 5 seconds, land three perfect casts and three perfect reactions, or use a rod's skill three times. Accepting a quest starts a 15-minute cooldown whether it's finished or abandoned.

Every Fishing Rod

Here's the standard progression from the starter rod up to the Treasure Rod, along with what each one costs.

A player needs their current best rod equipped to unlock the next tier, though switching back afterward costs nothing. Two more Legendary rods exist outside this path: a Celestial variant of the Shell Rod and a Corrupted variant of the Shark Rod, both tied to limited-time NPCs. A Mythical Admin Rod also exists but isn't obtainable by regular players.

Bait

Seven baits exist, each one crafted from the Angler once trust is high enough.

All seven come from the Angler in batches of ten. Bait determines what a cast can hook, so raising bait trust matters as much as the rod itself for reaching rarer fish.

Rod Mastery and Enchantments

Every rod carries its own mastery stat, capped at 100. Higher mastery makes the minigame easier to control and fills the progress bar faster.

Enchanting a rod happens at the Dragon Talon Sage using a scroll, obtained from diamond colored Sunken Chests. For the full rundown of every enchantment, blessing, and curse in the game, see the complete enchantments guide.

A rod can carry a general enchantment that scales with level, options include Baitless Catch, Experience Sharing, Fish Scanner, Resilient Fishing Rod, and Tasty Bait, plus an active Skill like Reel Boost or Calming Technique that triggers once a power bar fills from landing three fish.

Curses trade a drawback for a bigger payoff, extra starting progress in exchange for the fish panicking faster, or heavier final weight at the risk of burning two bait instead of one. Blessings are safer upgrades, extra daily chests or a chance to save materials when crafting bait.

Sunken Chests and Other Drops

Sunken Chests appear as a golden icon on the minigame bar and are the only reward on a daily timer:

  • Three a day normally

  • Six with the Treasure Rod

  • Nine with the Treasure Rod plus the chest-boosting Blessing

Chest color decides the reward: silver pays Money, purple pays Fragments, diamond gives enchantment scrolls, gold hands over a random Blox Fruit. Fishing up 500 chests unlocks the Treasure Catcher title, though there's no in-game counter tracking progress toward it. Fishing can also hook a physical Blox Fruit directly at a low rate, with a harder minigame when it happens.

Fish Rarity and Where to Find Them

Fish come in five rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary, and Mythical, with a few entries still unrevealed. Most Common and Uncommon fish turn up anywhere near water. Many Rare, Legendary, and Mythical fish are locked to specific spots: Candyfish only in the Sea of Treats, Frostjaw only around Frozen Village, Snow Mountain, or the Frozen Dimension, Gravelhead Shark only on Prehistoric Island, Ghostfish only near the Cursed Ship, Haunted Castle, Haunted Shipwreck, or Mirage Island. A few fish exist only during specific events and sit unobtainable otherwise.

Final Words

Fishing won't out-earn grinding for money or experience, but that's not the point. The real payoff sits in Sunken Chests, permanent recipe unlocks, and fish that only drop from a rod, none of which show up anywhere else in the game. Getting there means working through rods, bait, and Angler trust in sequence, then layering rod mastery and enchantments on top once the Dragon Talon Sage is in reach.
