About Swirly Axe
Swirly Axe is an ancient knife added during Christmas Event 2021, which ran from December 21, 2021 to January 28, 2022. Getting it meant clearing all 19 paid tiers of that event's Main Event at 800 Snow Tokens each, then buying the axe itself once the ladder was done for a separate 80,000 Snow Tokens, 95,200 Snow Tokens in total.
Trading is now the only way to get Swirly Axe, since the Main Event closed along with the rest of the event. It's part of the Full Swirly Set alongside the godly Swirly Gun and Swirly Blade, though all three came from entirely different places.
Appearance and Best Pairings
Swirly Axe takes the shape of a two-bladed labrys, styled in a red-and-white candy cane pattern with silver edges. A swirly peppermint sits at its center, held in a silver crown that connects the two blades, and the handle carries the same candy cane texture with a red bowtie and a ruby set in a silver prong between the blades.
Pair it with Swirly Gun, its official Set partner and the closest color match, with its own candy cane stripes and gold trim. Chroma Swirly Gun works too, carrying the same design under a chroma finish for players after a slightly different look on the same set.
Swirly Axe Background
Swirly Axe has taken one of the steepest value hits of any ancient in the game, its highest recorded value sits at 3,300 against a current market value of 40. That collapse traces back to a documented mass duping incident that flooded trading servers with illegitimate copies, the same fate that hit both of its Full Swirly Set partners.
The Full Swirly Set itself was split across three separate obtain methods rather than one shared path:
Swirly Axe came from the Main Event's tier ladder.
Swirly Gun was a 0.2% pull from the same event's Christmas Box, and its chroma counterpart sat in that same box at a 0.004% chance.
Swirly Blade came from an entirely different system, the Gifting Center, where giving 100 Gifts at 1,000 Snow Tokens each unlocked it, making it only the third weapon ever earned that way, after Jinglegun and Lugercane.
Swirly Axe also belongs to a small lineage of axe-shaped ancient knives going back to Logchopper in 2019 and Icebreaker in 2020, with Swirly Axe as the third, a line that continued with Traveler's Axe as the fourth in 2023 and Vampire's Axe as the fifth in 2024. The event's own Token-Collecting leaderboard gave out Gold, Silver, and Bronze Swirly Axe variants to its top three finishers, AstroPIuto, iGoa_t, and supscapes, kept separate from the event's second leaderboard for Gift-Giving.
