About Red Luger
Red Luger came from one of four limited-time crafting Recipes added during the Christmas Event 2015, MM2's very first Christmas event, which ran from December 19, 2015 to January 8, 2016. Adding a Luger and 75 Gifts into the Recipe only had a 49% chance of coming out as Red Luger; the other 51% produced its counterpart, Green Luger instead, and salvaging one today hands back 230 godly shards.
The Recipe was pulled from the game once the event wrapped, so trading is the only way to get one now. Along with Green Luger, it was one of the first two color reskins ever made of the base Luger, a lineup that's since grown to include Ginger Luger and Lugercane too.
Appearance and Best Pairings
Red Luger keeps the same shape as the standard Luger, just recolored in a metallic red, with the toggle pin and handle grip sitting in a slightly darker shade. As a reskin rather than its own Set item, Red Luger doesn't carry an official knife partner; that distinction belongs to the base Luger, which pairs with the unique knife Corrupt to form the Corrupt Set. For a pairing that actually matches its color, Candy fits well instead: the godly knife pulled as one of the two godlies inside that same Christmas Event 2015 box lineup, carrying the same red and white candy cane look.
Red Luger Background
Christmas Event 2015 was MM2's first Christmas event ever, and it introduced crafting Recipes to the game for the first time, four of them in total: Chill from a Heat and 100 Gifts, Handsaw from a Saw and 100 Gifts, and the Luger based split between Red Luger and Green Luger. It's also the event with the most godlies ever added at once, seven in total, since its two separate Crates: the Christmas Knife Box and Christmas Gun Box had two more godlies within.
Red Luger got caught up in the Duping Glitch (2021) years after its original release; one of several Luger variants affected the same way. It's also credited as the game's very first Christmas Recipe alongside Green Luger, a crafting system that returned in later years for other event weapons like Ginger Luger in 2018. Current trade trackers put it around 39 with Low demand.
